Divorce Mediation of California is a team of highly skilled attorneys and other professionals committed to helping clients reach a peaceful resolution to any and all of their family law issues. Our clients are successful in settling their divorce and other family law matters quickly and at a fraction of the cost of litigation, all while never stepping foot into the courthouse. We handle all of the forms, pleadings, and processing with the court so the clients can focus on reaching an agreement with the help and guidance of our mediators. For clients who are represented by attorneys in litigation, we often help mediate selected difficult issues so the case may continue to progress with their counsel. We offer a free initial consultation, and flat fee options may be available.
The owner and founder of Divorce Mediation of California is a family law attorney who is a Certified Family Law Specialist, State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. She has handled thousands of family law matters, including mediations, collaborative cases, and litigated matters. The mental health professionals and the accountants are also all committed to taking the skills and experience they have learned from litigating over the years to assist clients with finding a better way to resolve disputes. Flat fee and hourly rate options are available and will be discussed at the free initial consult.

Her firm is in the Fashion Island area of Newport Beach, CA. Having earned her undergraduate degree in Paralegal Studies, she worked as a paralegal while attending law school at night and on weekends. She received the American Jurisprudence Award in Contracts. Lisa graduated from Western State University College of Law in December of 1997, passed the bar exam on the first attempt, and was admitted to practice before all courts in the State of California in May 1998. She was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in April of 2009. Lisa has been litigating family law cases in court, but also mediating out-of-court settlements in family law matters for 28 years. Lisa has taught mediation and other law school courses at Trinity Law School, Western State, and South Coast College.
Lisa is a licensed real estate broker in the State of California with extensive experience managing commercial property investments.  She has been a guest speaker for the Orange County Bar Association, as well as at Western State University and Chapman Law School, and other local churches and organizations. Lisa has written published articles on the topics of Collaborative Law and Mediation. She was an MCLE presenter at a Lex Romana seminar held in Tuscany, Italy, speaking on the issues of substance abuse and the law. Lisa has volunteered time at various divorce recovery groups and frequently provides legal assistance through organizations such as the PEACE Center at Saddleback Church and Rock Harbor Church. She has spent many nights assisting self-represented victims of domestic violence at a legal clinic with Laura’s House, a local women’s shelter. Lisa is involved with various other charitable organizations, impacting veterans, victims of domestic violence, elderly, alcoholics and addicts in recovery, and the unhoused. She was the recipient of the prestigious Angelo Palmieri Award for Ethics and Civility, presented by the Robert A. Banyard Inn of Court. Having litigated hundreds of trials over the years, Lisa has a heart for assisting clients reach peaceful resolutions outside of court. She is the founder and owner of Divorce Mediation of California, LLC. In her spare time, she enjoys riding motorcycles, paddle boarding, traveling with her friends and family, and most especially spending time with her grandchildren.Â

Suzanne Gregoire and Lisa Risner worked together as family law attorneys and mediators since 1998. Suzanne attended Loyola Marymount University as a Presidential Scholar, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1993. She graduated from UCLA School of Law in May of 1996 and was admitted to practice law in the State of California in December 1996. While at UCLA, Suzanne worked on the UCLA Journal of Environmental Law and Policy and volunteered at El Centro Legal Clinic in Los Angeles and UCLA Student Legal Services. She played an integral part in forming Divorce Mediation of California and had a heart for helping people find peaceful solutions to their legal issues. She lost her valiant battle with cancer in 2025, and she is greatly missed by the entire firm and clients who had the privilege of knowing her.
